California Environmental Quality Act

A statute that requires California state and local agencies to identify significant environmental impacts of their actions and to avoid or mitigate those impacts if feasible. CEQA mandates environmental impact reports public disclosure of potential environmental effects and consideration of alternatives before proceeding with projects that may affect the environment.
