Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis

A progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord. ALS causes the death of neurons controlling voluntary muscles leading to stiff muscles muscle twitching and gradually worsening weakness resulting in difficulty speaking swallowing and eventually breathing.
